Forgiveness & Mercy

The sacrament of reconciliation restores our relationship with God and the Church, freeing us from the burden of sin and calling us to offer forgiveness to those around us. Through this encounter with God’s boundless mercy, we are liberated to be forgivers yourselves, understanding more deeply that it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

Adapted from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults.

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to His Church, offering the profound gift that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. Through the grace of honestly confessing our sins and seeking repentance, we are reconciled to both God and the Church, receiving the mercy needed to live as new creations in Christ.
